Stepper Control Board

This document describes the Control Board for the 2-phase Steppers used for the robot. Each phase of the 2 Steppers should have a restance above 30 Ohms. Each phase must not consumpt more than 300 mA. In our particular case the used Steppers have 37.5 Ohms per phase. We made some major enhancements while assembling the prototypes on PCB.

You will have to put some 10k into the SMD pads (red marks in the bottom view below !) on the bottom side of the PCB, near the BC550. But if you some FETs at hand to plug in that can stand up to 8V at their gate .. ok you do not need them, because the Maximum-Gate-Voltage is not exceeded. And you also may put an additional 100nF to some ICs between GND and VCC against transients and glitches...

Here you may download the TOP and BOTTOM layers of the routed layout here ...
The bottom layer is allready mirrored !! If your printer is capable of Postscript you may just send him these file directly to print your layout

The most parts have been exchanged during assemblation so here are both parts listed ...

You will need:

pcs	type	type in plan

3	74LS04	7404	(HCT or 7404 may also be ok but NO CMOS -> 3V !!)
1	74573	74573	LS, HCT, or whatever you appreciate (this is just a latch and may not be needed)
8	1N400x	1n4148	(voltage doenst matter but current does and these are capable of 1A about 400mA should suffice )
2	capacities about 10uF and appropriate voltage
8	BC550	BC547	just for signal amplification (about 20mA)
8	BC337	BC640	power-stage (300-500 mA)
8	BS170	MPF910	power-stage (300-500 mA)
16	SMD 10k resistors (optionally ?)
16	1k resistors
3	14 Pin sockets
1	20 Pin socket

and of course some of these pin-connectors !
